Day 16 Challenge - 75 Hard...

It is Day 16 of the 75 Hard Challenge and today I came across a minor challenge of its own…. I stopped by the car shop 6.5 miles from my home where I was expecting a quick brake pad job. 30 minutes later I found out it was going to be a 3.5-hour job due to needing new rotors and shocks to boot. My IBV immediately started telling me to call an UBER, but, realizing I could save some money while, at the same time, getting my outdoor workout in, I ignored him and started walking. The first hill into the hike, it dawned on me why my IBV was crying so much: I did a heavy leg workout this morning. Oh well, press on… One hour and 54 minutes later (17.35 minutes per mile), after walking up some big hills and wearing a blister on the ball of my right foot from walking on steep grades off the side of the highway to avoid being ran over, I arrived back home. And just in time to drink the last quarter gallon of water and consume my lunch of 69 grams of protein, 36 grams of carbs and 16 grams of fat (530 calories total) and to start prepping my dinner consisting of a chicken breast and baked potato. I also threw away a pair of shoes that didn’t survive the hike.

I don’t love everything about this challenge, but I love that my first thought when told my truck wouldn’t be ready for several hours was to go get a hard workout in that most would never have attempted. See you on Day 25, God-willing….
